In the early days when I began to develop my walk with God several years ago; I heard the Spirit of God say to me “You can be extremely powerful as you maintain a vibrant and consistent communion with me.” Ever since then that word had become like a Bible verse for me. The word casual, irregular, inconsistent etc. will never produce any tangible result in any life’s venture. If you are casual about life you will also have casual results out of life. If you are inconsistent about life you will also have the same dimension of results out of life.
About our walk with God, the rule of the game is consistency. God wants us to be consistent with him. Prov. 8:34 “Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching DAILY at my gates..” In Isaiah 50:4 it says “...He wakeneth morning by morning...” 1 Thess. 5:18 says “Pray without ceasing.” If you’d like to, pray consistently. Let’s take prayer as a typical example. It’s better to pray five (5) minutes every day all through the week than to pray 1 hour just one day in a week. This is actually the reason why our walk with God is shallow and ineffective. Many come to Church on a Sunday morning to have a good time in praise, worship and learning from the word of God. Once service is over that’s the end of it till next Sunday. We can’t grow spiritually that way. Just imagine feeding a child only once in a week. In most cases a child does not eat so much at once. But a consistent intake of the food will make the child grow.
No one eats a drum of food at once. It’s usually small amounts eaten over time that culminates in the overall growth of a person. You don’t have to read your entire Bible in one day. But a portion must be read daily and consistently.
Genesis 49:4
Unstable (inconsistent) as waters, thou shalt not excel.
