The shock and confusion we go through at the loss of our loved ones will require lots of revelations and answers to the questions that bother us. There is no better way to get our responses than through prayers.
Once our understanding of prayer is wrong our drive to pray will also be weak.
Prayer is not just a means of getting things from God but a means of becoming something in God. What you get will finish but what you become will remain forever. The prayer focus of great men in the scriptures were not just based on getting material things but prayers that were targeted at experiencing a transformation in God.
The building of a house doesn’t start from the roof but rather from the foundation. In most cases our prayer lives are based on getting a roof over our heads while there was never a foundation. If your prayers are only focused on shoes, clothes etc. you will soon get tired.
The great spiritual giants in scripture focused more on praying foundational prayers for themselves and for others. This is the process of experiencing transformations that becomes a lifetime goldmine in our lives. You will keep drawing from the results of such prayers all your life.
Paul said “...Making mention of you in my prayer: that the Lord will give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him (Ephesians 1:16-17).” These are fundamental requirements we need in our journey in life. Wisdom is the force of the Spirit within us that causes us to think right and move in the right direction in life. It orders our steps in the journey of life. Revelation is the ability to see beyond the natural and the obvious. This should become a major prayer point for us in life. The Amplified version says (I always pray) that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ...may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation (that gives you deep and personal and intimate insight) into the knowledge of him...”
Ephesians 1:16-17
