Joseph's story inspires me a lot. I have learned so many lessons from his life. He had one of the most terrible experiences of life. He was thrown into the pit to die. His coat of many colors was taken away from him. That was his most treasured possession. He went from one series of misfortune to another. He had no education, neither was he given a chance to learn a trade.
If you study his life closely you will notice that the only thing that was available for Joseph was the grace and the favor of God. If this is all you have in life you have everything. If you have everything and you don’t have the grace and favor of God, you have nothing.
Joseph understood clearly that if he was going to end up great in life he must:
Retain the grace of God.
Attract the favor of God.
This is what he tried to do when he refused the advances of his master’s wife. He knew that sin would constitute a barrier to the flow of grace and favor in his life. This is why even though he lost everything he still had everything. It was just a matter of time; his place in destiny was secured back. When the grace of God is at work, our losses will turn to gain. The stumbling blocks will become stepping stones. Weaknesses will give way for strength.
Sin is one major thing that will rob you of the grace of God in your life. Samson was robbed of the grace of God by sin. He thought it was his strength that made him triumph. When we live right, we create more room for the grace of God to be at work in our lives. Don't excuse sin, no matter what you are going through.
Genesis 39:4
And Joseph found grace in his sight... And he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
