God is just. He promotes based on the tests we pass. If you cannot do what Abraham did, you cannot be a friend of God.
For Satan, quitting is the end goal for discouragement, staying in the game is the tool God uses for promotion.
In the book of I Samuel 1: 1-12, a man named Elkanah had two wives, Hannah and Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah did not. Peninnah tormented and mocked Hannah for her infertility for years. Hannah was so discouraged that she could not eat, and was always crying because of the tormenting attitudes of her mate, Peninnah.
Instead of responding to her tormentor, she kept her mouth shut. Her character was tested by Eli, the prophet in her church too, but she exhibited grace and humility through her words while responding to Eli.
Despite Hannah’s pains and discouragement, she kept praying and kept faith alive.
Do you know that the story of Peninnah did not get beyond Chapter one of this book?. Do not push this season of discouragement to the next season of your life, it is temporary, it shall come to pass and end gloriously in your honor.
Later in the story, the reason for her not having any child was revealed.
1 Samuel 1:6 says ‘Because the LORD had closed Hannah's womb.
Neither of these women knew the reason for her barrenness, God Himself closed Hannah’s womb. God was testing Hannah. If Hannah had given in to discouragement posed by her mocker, she wouldn’t have given birth to Samuel, the first King of Israel.
No matter how painful, don’t quit. God could be birthing a ‘King’ or 'king-like situation' through you.
Stay in the game.
Halleluyah!!
1 Samuel 1:6-7 NIV
Because the Lord had closed Hannah’s womb, her rival kept provoking her in order to irritate her. This went on year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the house of the Lord , her rival provoked her till she wept and would not eat.
