The Israelites were in Egypt for over 430 years. It was a great deliverance for them to have come out of the grip of Pharaoh. Pharaoh did everything possible to stop them from leaving, but. miraculous hands of God brought them out. As soon as they got their freedom, they began to complain and murmur. They actually said it was better to have been left in Egypt just because they encountered some challenges.
These people had been free physically speaking from Egypt, but they were not free mentally. Their bodies were out of Egypt but their minds were still there. God was trying to move them forward but they were moving backwards in their minds. They had stayed so long in Egypt that it had conditioned their minds.
The loss of a loved one could be an Egypt. Getting stuck with the regrets and guilt of the loss kept me from moving on to being useful to myself, not to talk about impacting anyone. A subtle way for the Spirit of time wasters to key into one's life. It was like calling a pity party and attending it alone.
I felt we had been so accustomed to the pains of our loss and it kept controlling our lives and decisions.
This is exactly what Apostle Paul was talking about when he said we should not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
This is the only way our lives will be different from that of this world. One major purpose of having the word of God is that it helps us to begin to think differently in line with God’s will and desires for our lives.
The world and its ways are a type of Egypt. It has nothing better to offer you than delay.
Ex 14:12
Is not the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
